I think your website is great. Seeing your house and the story of how you met is beautiful. I am also a big animal lover and I loved all the photos of your pets. I am coming to Mazatlán in January on vacation and on business. It will be my first time on the pacific side. I have a business here and I come to Mexico to buy product. I had heard of a place north of there that makes beautiful handmade doors with an old volkswagen motor as their power. Would you have knowledge of this place or would you know anyone that does. I have a retail store that carries garden, architectural salvage, antiques, furniture and all kinds of things and am looking for product especially those doors or antique mexican things. Where should I stay The b and b or El Cid . Karen
My husband, I and our four teenagers are coming to Mazatlán by van from NM to stay at the El Cid from Dec. 29-Jan.5. We would like to bring our three dogs for the trip and board them in Mazatlán. Do you know of any inexpensive but good pet kennels in Mazatlán? Please e-mail me.
Hi there, I'm not sure who I am actually addressing, however, if anyone is familiar w/ Mazatlán, and some of the local places and/or people, maybe you can help me out. Myself & hubby & 2 of our friends, also a couple, were in Mazatlán for 8 days 11-24 to 12-2-07. It was only our 2nd time in MX but we had made friends/acquaintences(sp) on our previous trip, & were able to meet up w/ them briefly this time around too. There's a man named "Lacho" who generally stands or works in front of a local bar named "Munchkins" which is across the street from Pueblo Bonito. He is with the Grand Mayan Sea Gardens Resort located right down the road from where we stayed at Torres Mazatlán. Unfortunatly, all we know is the name "Lacho". No last name, no contact address or manager or supervisor to contact to let them know of their employee. If anyone knows Lacho, or how we can get a hold of him, or some one at the resort he works for (sales for time share'condo's at Grand Mayan) it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch in advance! Sharon & Steve
YES I FOUND A CONTACT OF MY OLD FRIEND HERE AND TODAY WE ARE IN TOUCH WITH EACH OTHER. THANKS RICH FOR MEETING YOU AGAIN IN LIFE.
First of all, Thank you for all the information you share. I spend every winter in Mazatlán and I am very interested in taking up Yoga. I can't seem to find any good information on the subject. Do you know of any yoga classes being offered?
Hi Nadine and Henry, We will be visiting Mazatlán for the first time in January and staying for a glorious month. Your website has been a treasure trove of information. Thanks for taking the time to inform us first time visitors. One thing I would love to do while I'm there is to have a private authentic Mexican cooking lesson from one of the locals. Can you help me out? I'm not looking for a professional chef, just someone who cooks good food for her family and speaks some English. Hope you can help! Angela
Nadine and Henry, I have used your coupons for a few years now. We always have fun finding the places on the coupon. It seems we're never able to use them all. We share them with others and they're always happy to get them. Sometimes we'll share them with people in the same restaurant we're in, they are always very thankful to get them. We'll be t El Cid Marina the first 2 weeks of December. Maybe we can meet you somewhere for dinner. I'll be checking my email while I'm there, let us know if you'd like to get together. I love Mexico and hope to spend even more time down there. Where did other find monthly rentals?

Hello Henry and Nadine!! We're making our seventh(!?) visit this Christmas (2007) and have again rented a house/condo through your website (your "little pink house" on El Cid being our first rental). Thanks again for the great info on your website--it always makes our trips memorable, fun and easy!! If you're going to be around at Christmas time, we'd love to buy you a cocktail (we're staying at Amy and Al's 12/22 through 12/31). - Rich and Martha
We recently purchased a condo in Mazatlán and would like to know where we would go to find maid service. Thank you for your help.
We have been coming to Mazatlán many years and are returning in Nov. We enjoy the bass fishig at el Salto but the prices are so high. Any ideas on small private fishing boats for day trips? We could bring our own equipment. My son speaks spanish. Great web site!! I'm excited to rediscover Mazatlán!
Hi neighbor....well part time neighbor..we have been in Reno for twenty-seven years and we are now looking at heading down to Mexico to live. (Just cause your paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't following you). We really want you thank you for your WEB. the information you have supplied is invaluable for our situation. I just retired, and Penny and I are coming down to Maz in February for 3 months. We are planning to get a better feel for the town (we have visited twice before for only a week each time), and look for a small house to buy. We would like to know a bit more about summer living in Maz and if the heat/humidity is tolerable or bearable...as your aware Reno gets warm but we have no humidity to speak of... Thanks for great site and hope we can meet one day. John and Penny
Hi Nadine and Henry! Your website is the best! You helped me so much with my trips to Mazatlán. Great ideas, great restauents and supper advise! Our vacation wouldn't hve been so great withour your helpful knowledge! I'll be back there Jabuary 12, 2008 for two weeks and I have a list of all the things I didn't get to last time. I'll be performing at Canucks January 23 and 24th with Danny B from Toronto in The Dave Barter Memorial Blues festival. Hope to see everyone there! Yours, Shelley Lynne Hardinge
Hi Nadine and Henry, We went to Maz in July and found your site a useful guide for the city. We did have a couple of bones to pick with you. 1. It appears that you don't take into consideration that *some* crazy Americans just *might* come in the summer. So, things like the Champagne Breakfast North of town don't happen during the summer! 2. You could use more information on the divers. We showed up in the afternoon and there was no one there. It was really unclear on how it worked. We finally figured out that to see someone dive, you have to plan on spending an hour or two hanging out down there in the evening until enough people are them to contribute money. Or, you have to pay them all by yourself. We were very frustrated by the lack of information (even from the locals) on how this whole thing worked. 3. I'm not sure where you were getting your prices for the Cambios, but when we arrived in Maz I didn't find any of them that were listing the prices that you had on your site the day before. 4. I think it would also be worth telling people that there won't be many Americans/Canadians in the summer. Didn't bother us, but I know people it would bother. 5. Most of the places you recommended were quite good as was the service. However Los Arcos was so-so and the service was pretty lousy. Just FYI. By and large your site was good and really helped us prepare and know what to expect. Thanks for all that you put into the site. It was cool to get some info on Mazatlán.
We have been going to Mazatlán for about 30 years. The last three times we went (last time February 2006) the water is so high there isn't any beach to walk until noon or after at the Playa Mazatlán area. When I ask them about it they say it is normal but we have gone in January, February or March whenever we went and it seems to be worse every time we go. We are thinking of staying at the Inn at Mazatlán or El Cid so we can walk the beach in the morning next time. Is this global warming and why don't they tell you they have to notice the change since most of the beach is gone.
Hi Henry and Nadine, I have enjoyed your website and found it very helpful My dad is going to be retiring in Mazatlán later this year. He has purchased a condo that will be ready for occupancy in Nov. We are going to be in Maz from Sept. 5 - 12 for fun and also to shop for furnishings for his new place. Do you have any recommendations on furniture stores etc. ? Thanks, Diane
Hi, I am looking for a contact of a friend I have from Edmonton/Nanimo. She is featured on your pages frequently. Her name is Valerie Moreau. She's married to Jack. Can you please forward my email address to her or Jack. I've lost my contact with her. I totally love your website. I'm envious. thanks for your help, Linda Welch.
Hi Nadine and Henry- Love your web site and have enjoyed watching it grow. Wanted to give you a heads up that the Melville apparently has abandoned the idea of providing nursing care/assisted living accommodations, per this article in the USA Today about seniors moving south to Mexican nursing homes: http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2007-08-15-mexnursinghome_N.htm?csp=34 Thought you might want to update your article about them. Thanks- Kate
We are looking at spending 2 weeks there in 2007-Nov/Dec. Do you recommend renting a car at all? We have been there 3 times prior and feel ready to explore the outlying area if safe for travel. Any recommendation on where to go and what to see.
Your website is full of invaluable information. We will be in Mazatlán for two weeks beginning 5 August. Last year we spent 1 week there and had such a great relaxing time that we decided to go back. Have attempted to contact Dr. Morelos Chong by email without success, do you still highly recommend him? Thanks again for your terrific website. Wish I had seen it last year before we went to Mazatlán. Mahalo
Henry, this website is absolutely wonderful. One issue I have encountered recently is that the realtor's websites get hung up with a system error. I was trying to go into Alfredo Reynaga's website 'homeowners' but got a system error when I clicked on the URL. So I tried Gustavo andJim and got the same thing. Is this something that happened with your site or is it my computer? How do I fix this, I am looking for property and this is the greatest site. thanks for your help.
Your site has helped me a lot more than any other to find out what really is going on in Mazatlán. As a promoter, I was looking forward to gather information on the day-to-day aspects of the life in this area. I have to say that your site comforted me in bringing canadians to work and live in Mazatlán... Congratulations and keep up the good work. Regards, Jacques.
Very interesting and informative site! I'm glad I found your site as it is a wealth of information. Thank you very much. We just purchased a condo in Mazatlán in March and get possesion November 2007. We can't wait! Do you have any suggestions as to where we might purchase furniture, etc. in Mazatlán? If you have any info, we love to hear from you. Thanks again!
This is going to seem like the dumbest question ever ... but I'm just discovering and researching Mazatlán. So ... what is the best way to get there from the US? Where are the airports which server there? Is it best to fly into a particular city in Mexico and drive to Mazatlán?
Is there a way to contact you personally about a matter regarding the place called Isla Mazatlán? We bought a villa on fractional ownership and have run into some problems with the company( Marina Y Villa Coral ) that we bought from. Just wondering if you have heard of anything going on regarding them. Thanks, Thom
I found a site that shows how to make free calls to the USA and Canada. They have a toll free number that can be reached from anywhere in Mexico. Their site is: http://0018005551212.ibusinessdot.com/ Thought it would be helpful.
Hi: I was in Mazatlán for 3 months this year staying at the Marina del Rey and the year before we also stayed for 3 months in a house at Villa Tranquila both the north end of town. So as you can see we really enjoy Mazatlán and it feels like home to us. Gustavo from El Arte redesigned an amethyst and diamond ring for me this year, it was absolutely awesome and if you have a chance to see him, please tell him that I will treasure it forever. Its the "V" shaped ring with the amethyst in the middle. Great web site, very informative. Keep up the good work.
Hola: Have just returned from Mazatlán after spending the winter there. We stayed at the Marina del Rey for 3 months. Last year we rented a house in Villa Tranquila also for 3 months. So, as you can see, we love Mazatlán and have made lots of friends. I had a ring made and designed by Gustavo at El Arte this year. It was an incredible design and I am thrilled with it. If you have a chance to talk to him, please tell him that I am the lady with the amethyst and diamond "V" shaped ring that I will always treasure. Unfortunately, we will not be back in Mazatlán next year, but will probably return the year after. A very informative web site for people who have never been to Maz. Keep up the good work. Chris, Acton, Ontario, Canada
In response to Ms Hartman .... bull fighting is part of Spanish and Mexican culture. You don't have to go to the bull fights. If you don't go to Mazatlán for this one reason, you are missing out on a beautiful Mexican city full of beautiful Mexican people. Not every one goes to the bull fights. I believe there are more people (tourists and locals) going to the winter baseball games.
I was looking forward to a visit to Mazatlán next winter, but was so disappointed to read that there are bullfights taking place there - and that you felt compelled to list it as a number one attraction. Bull fights are despicable, cowardly and deeply disturbing to me and several others. I won't patronize a place that promotes such atrocious cruelty. Sincerely, Joette Hartman
Great website. I have referenced it for the past several years. We purchaed at Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay in 2003. Things have changed considerably since our first trip. Due to the restaurant price increases at Emerald Bay, we venture out. With three children, we didn't want to go far. However, we really enjoyed The Purple Onion. It was close to the Pueblo Bonito Mazatlán shuttle. The food was good, prices reasonable and live band Wednesday and Saturday was great. We also went to Munchkins. The first night there, the timeshare sales were out of control. The next visit we decided to tell them up front - no sales. Much to our surprise, there were no timeshare people. Maybe because it was Sunday evening? Who knows. We happened to be there on week two of Spring Break (Easter vacation). Lots of people. We will try to avoid that next time.
Hola, First of all I would like to say I love your website. We just got back from Mazatlán last month and we ate dinner at Terraza Playa. They served us some sweet bread and I was wondering if you knew the name of it? We have several Mexican stores here in Idaho and Im hoping I can buy it here. Its yummy. Thanks so much.
Thanks guys, this site is a great resource of information. We have been 4 times now and plan to continue our vacations here. Even after only 4 visits we don't really feel like tourists anymore because we have met so many people that we look up eveytime we are there. We are also looking at semi retirement in the next few years and would like to make Mazatalan our second home. Your site has helped alot with getting the information process started. Any advice on looking for apartment/condo rentals for less than a months stay? Thanks Steve
Hi. I have been looking over your site and it is great. A few of us are going to Mazatlán in a week and are excited. Upon looking at the maps, I was unable to find the Mayan Sea Garden Which is where we are staying. Can you tell me where it is in location to the others on the maps. Thanks...I printed out your restaurant guide. It looks great. Robert
Henry, your site is great, thank you for all the effort. There will be 4 of us staying a week at Mayan Sea Garden starting 4/14. We're not planning to rent a car (bus or taxi should do) but it looks like the boardwalk would be a nice place for early morning bike rides (before crowds). My email to kelly's bike rental place was kicked back yesterday saying the address did not exist. Do you have any advice regarding where to rent bikes and whether it's a good idea? Looking forward to visiting your city.
We just returned from a wonderful week in Mazatlán and took you up on many of your recommendations - thanks! Here are some comments and recommendations for you and others as well. We stayed at Torres which was beautiful and offered a nice relaxing setting. Very family oriented and had a community feel to it. Our favorite restaurant was the Guadalajara Grill and we would challenge your low 4 star rating - it was excellent and interesting (we recommend the shrimp chimmichanga appetizer)! Our second favorite was probably El Shrimp Bucket - it was worth the trek downtown and offered a beautiful sunset as well. Good seafood, especailly the shrimp of course. Another restaurant we liked a lot was Los Zarape's, it was also excellent (you do not rate it, but we recommend you try it!). The food was fresh, well-flavored, and tasty. Our biggest recommendation in terms of activities was The Mazatlán Jungle Tour. It was an informative look into the flora and fauna of the area as well as the industry and a wonderful meal cooked by Stone Island residents. Thanks for all of your insights and tips!
We are moving from Lake Chapala to Mazatlán this year. We are in the process of bying a condo on El Cid Golf Course. We will be bying furniture, appliances new. Does Mazatlán have good choice of stores where we can buy decent furniture and appliances or should we buy them in Guadalajara? Your Web site is excellent. We almost feel at home by all this precious information we are getting from it. Thank you, Marcel, Suzanne
My son will be attanding Tec de Monterry in Mazatlán next Jan.-May. I am starting to look into appartments for him. I cannot find the location of the campus on any maps. Can you tell me the approximate location of the campus and suggest the best area(s) for a student to live in Mazatlán? We plan on visiting in Feb. Can't wait! Thanks, Mark Burzynski Southbury, CT
Thanks so much for your site! So much great information in one place and thank you for sharing your lives with us!We especially appreciate the real estate portion as we are planning to call Mazatlán home one day soon. The history of the homes, when listed and various agents is so insightful. Do you folks update 2 times a year? Thanks for all your well done efforts, TJ&Jeanie
Henry & Nadine, Thanks for an outstanding wealth of information on Mazatlán. I have spent the majority of the day today perusing your website as the city of Rochester, and a good portion of the state of Minnesota has been shut down by a major winter snowstorm. I can't wait to be in Mazatlán from 03/24-03/31. Looking forward to attending the Amigos de los Animales event on the 25th!
Thank you so much for your fantastic website! I have printed so much information, I believe I have my very own notebook/travel guide to refer to. We'll be celebrating my hubby's 60th birthday with 2 other couples while there; you've given us some great ideas for restaurants to try and we're thrilled to hit the links at Estrella del Mar. An aside, while searching your site for upcoming events, I got nothing from the link except your programming information. Thanks again!
Can you help us? My brother-in-law and his family are vacationing at Mayan Sea Gardens. We will be staying at El Cid Castilla Beach. How far away are they from each other? Your web site is fab! Very informative! We both like the bus route map. When we were in Puerto Vallarta last year we accidentally took the bus the wrong way. What a wonderful way to see the city!
Absolutely love your site!! I will be there on the 23rd of February. I have gathered so much to do from this site including looking for a retirement home! I hope I have enough time to just relax!! Thank you for all the info. Walt
Leaving for Mazatlán at 7:00 in Morning Feb 16th, This will be the first time we will be there in the start of Carnival sounds like it will be fun, .....Comon by and see us we make a hell of a BLACK OPAL
What a great web site!!!!!
Your terrific!!! Love your sight. Plan on being in Mazatlán the month of April in hopes of finding the right property for retirement. Your site has been very helpful. Now we all know that every culture has a different tempo. However, my question is this: I have contacted several realtors about their listings. Only a few have answered (even when I've emailed again). That's not to say all. Some have been very keen on follow-up. Since I have been in the business here in the states, it seems like folly for these folks to advertise and then not follow through...especially when one checks AMPI listings. It looks like inventory isn't moving. What's happening? The market appears to be in a slump and no one is doing much. Any suggestions?
I'm coming to Mazatlán tomorrow and can hardly wait!!! Thanks soooo much for your website, it makes me feel so much better to have the incredible info. I'm glad to see you sitting at your computer this am, I thought you were fake!
Thanks for the great website. I am traveling to Mazatlán at the end of the month and I was looking for info. Thank you, Kevin
We'll be leaving for Mazatlán on Saturday!! Could you tell us if there are money exchange places scattered about the city, and where would be the better places to exchange our money while there? Also, what seem to be the most current exchange rates? Thank you. Your site has been SOOO helpful! ~~MB
We usually stay at the La Marina Tennis & Yacht Club, but cannot get the week we want this year. I know El Cid is to the south, but I am looking for a place to rent north of the marina close to La Marina. Can you give me any name. We are looking to go Mar 9 -19,2007 Thank you.
We found your website quite informative and utilized the places to dine. We would like to inform you that we did encounter a bad experience at the Casa Loma restaurant on the evening of Jan 02, 2008. The food appeared great and the sevice was good. Our waiter had been working their for 22 years. However, 4 hour after eating, 4 out of 6 of my family became violently ill. This ruined the remaining days of our 1 week vacation. We attributed it to the water/ice cubes as the two healthy members did not touch the water. I called the restaurant the next morning to inform them and they had already received 5 other calls with the same concerns. They indicated they were trying to get to the bottom of this. I would recommend others to stay clear of this place. If you hear of what the problem was/is I would appreciate knowing. Thanks for your website but wanted to let you know.
